Leading R&D and manufacturing company Imtrade Australia has expanded its Research & Development division, welcoming Sebastian Recabarren as Technical Agronomist based in South Australia.
With a strong background in research in the horticultural and broadacre sector and a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, Sebastian is experienced in a range of different areas in Australia, ranging from rainy tropical Queensland to hot northern Western Australia to the Great Basin.
Originally growing up on an Avocado farm in central Chile, Sebastian has a particular interest in tree crops such as almonds, macadamias and of course avocadoes. In his spare time Sebastian is a board member of the local community garden which promotes participation from disability organisations and educates children from the local primary school, promoting healthy living and an understanding of sustainable food production.
‘I am very excited to be working with a company with a strong emphasis on R&D’ he said, ‘working with farmers to develop sustainable solutions for the industry is going to be extremely rewarding for me’.
Sebastian has been busy working with SA farmers setting up several snail bait trials and fine tuning farm machinery for Metakill application.
“We were capable of spreading as little as 1kg/ha of Metakill at 25mts width without any compromise in the quality of the distribution or spreading speed”
Imtrade continues to research in snail and slug control by setting up several trial sites across the state and continues to develop and field test with farmer’s new products.
